Local Governing Board
Every school within the St James and Emmanuel Academy Trust has its own Local Academy Board. The Local Academy Board takes a keen interest in all aspects of school life and is responsible for the general oversight of the conduct and the curriculum of the school.
St Wilfrid's CE Primary School is a church school with very strong links to the Parish of St Wilfrid's in Northenden. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of the church nominate six of our eleven governors, in order that the faith foundation of our school is firmly upheld. The PCC nominations have to be ratified and approved by the Members of the Trust, who have the controlling interest. For more information on the Members please see the St James and Emmanuel Trust page on this website.
The Local Academy Governing Board consists of:
- four Governors nominated by the PCC (Parochial Church Council)
- two Governors (appointed by St James and Emmanuel Academy Trust)
Other Governors include:
- two parents (elected by parents)
- two members of staff
- the Head of School (if s/he opts to be a member of the Local Governing Board)
- one Associate Governor (appointed by the Local Governing Board)
All our Governors have enhanced DBS checks.
The Governors have an important job to do. They are involved in:
- deciding what is taught
- setting standards of behaviour
- monitoring attendance and punctuality
- interviewing and selecting staff
- deciding how the school budget is spent
- maintaining the school building
